Millicent M. Stackhouse, President
SCSUNAA, Washington, DC Chapter
PO Box 2921, Washington, DC 20013
First, I would like to thank you again for the opportunity to serve as your president. I do not take this privilege lightly and look forward to us working together as loyal sons and daughters to advance the ideals of our beloved alma mater.
The executive board has already begun the work of ensuring that we are able to maintain the illustrious Washington, DC chapter in these unprecedented times.
Our planning sessions have taken into account that we must be both flexible and creative in how we conduct our monthly meetings and in our fundraising efforts to support current and future SCSU students. We ask that you continue to support the chapter’s endeavors by renewing your membership and encouraging others in the DMV area to do the same. Just as many hands make light work; many voices on one accord are stronger together.
In multiple summer planning sessions, your executive board has worked to prepare for the upcoming year. Our updated bylaws have been forwarded to the SCSUNAA; a 2020-2021 calendar has been developed; a proposed budget has been prepared; and we have readied recommendations about upcoming events and fundraising activities. Additionally, we have incorporated multiple initiatives to enhance our processes and procedures. As a result, we will continue to impact the communities we represent and increase our efforts to support SCSU.
Our first general body meeting will take place virtually on August 28, 2020 (additional information to be provided later). We look forward to apprising you of plans to keep the Washington DC chapter at the forefront of the SCSU National Alumni organizations.
Although we are operating in a new normal, we will as our ancestors have always done, keep moving forward.
With Bulldog love,
