Membership Committee
The Membership Committee supports the mission of our Chapter. Among the objectives of our Chapter: to disseminate information, cement the bonds of fellowship and loyalty to SCSU; promote education & scholarship; and to establish a closer relationship between the University, alumni, faculty, students and the communities served by SCSU.
Regular Chapter Member: a graduate or any person who attended SCSU for minimum period of one year. Chapter dues is $55 annually for one year beginning July 1 thru June 30 of following year. $30 of the Chapter dues go to the local chapter to fund chapter programs and $25 goes to the National Alumni Association. Local dues cover the following chapter expenses:
- Monthly Meeting Expenses - rental of meeting space
- Christmas Party
- Annual Chapter Picnic
- Cards and Flowers for Bereavement and Special Events
- Newsletter Expenses (Printing and Mailing)
- Website Expenses
- Travel Expenses for Chapter Representation
- Student Recruitment Luncheon
- Other committee expenses
Life Member: an alumnus who has paid the $500 one time fee to become a life member of the South Carolina State University National Alumni Association. Once the requirements for a life member is satisfied, a life member is only required to pay the chapter dues of $30 annually for one year beginning July 1 thru June 30 of following year.
To become a financial member of Washington, DC Chapter, please download and complete the membership application, attach your check for Regular Member or Life Member dues, and drop in the mail to: Washington, DC Chapter, SCSUNAA, Post Office Box 23847, Washington, DC 20026-3847.
