Scholarship Dinner Dance Committee

This Committee is responsible for the annual scholarship dinner dance fundraiser; ads and solicitations from patrons; ticket sales and seating arrangements; and shall make periodic reports to the Executive Board to include recommendations for improvements of the dinner dance.


Ways and Means Committee

The mission of the Washington DC Chapter of SCSUNAA Ways and Means committee is to secure financial resources and in-kind support to ensure the future of South Carolina State University by providing scholarships to local students who plan to matriculate at the university.


Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee shall be responsible for the expression of support to members and friends of the Chapter and University on the occasion of life altering circumstances such as, but not limited to, the following; marriage, illness, death, other rites of passages, etc. The Chaplain shall be an active member of this committee. When applicable, the Hospitality Committee should coordinate its activity with the Social Committee.

The mission of the Washington DC Chapter of South Carolina State University National Alumni Association's membership committee is to recruit new persons and increase the number of financial members, while maintaining the enrollment of individuals currently active with the chapter.

Heritage Activities

The Heritage Committee maintains correspondence, pictures and memorabilia belonging to the chapter and capturing chapter events throughout the year.


Recruitment Committee

The Recruitment Committee shall be responsible for participating in all activity that impact the interest of local college fairs for South Carolina State University and develop a plan of action that will enable supporters of the University to favorable impact such activity. During the spring of each year, a recruitment luncheon is sponsored by the Washington, DC Chapter and students who have been accepted to SCSU and their parents are invited. At the luncheon, you get to interact with alumni, other students who have applied to SCSU and representatives from the University.


Publicity Committee

The Publicity Committee shall be responsible for delivering, via various methods, information to the general public regarding the Chapter and the university. This committee shall promote the spirit of the University and its alumni. It will also be responsible for developing and maintaining the Chapter web site.


Scholarship Committee

The Washington, DC Chapter awards a number of scholarships to students from the Washington, DC area who have been accepted to South Carolina State University.


Social Committee

The Social Committee shall be responsible for planning all activities of a purely social nature including, but not limited to receptions after meetings, chapter hosted receptions (hospitality rooms) for visitors during university related events held in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, receptions held in conjunction with other entities of the National Alumni Association or the University, etc. When applicable, the Social Committee should coordinate its activity with the Hospitality Committee.
